Coachman

Coachman

The perfect blend of beauty and practicality, these doors are crafted of durable steel and insulation topped with a textured composite overlay

Coachman

Your local Clopay dealer — installing the Coachman in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix, and across Arizona.

Best for: Gilbert HOA-compliant carriage-house upgrades on Power Ranch, Morrison Ranch, and Seville homes.

About the Coachman

The Clopay Coachman is the carriage-house door we install more than any other model. It gives you the raised-panel or recessed-panel look of a real wood carriage door on a steel body that shrugs off desert sun and doesn't ask you to refinish it every few years. That combination is why Coachman shows up on so many Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and wider Phoenix-area homes when a homeowner is ready to move on from a plain flat panel.

Coachman doors are built on a steel core with a composite overlay bonded to the front. Three insulation tiers are available — non-insulated, polystyrene, and Clopay's premium Intellicore polyurethane sandwich — with R-values ranging up to R-18.4. For any attached garage in the Phoenix area, we always steer homeowners to at least the polystyrene tier; if the garage shares a wall or ceiling with a bedroom, we make the case for Intellicore. Add decorative hardware and window inserts to dial in the exact carriage look you want.

Why Arizona Homeowners Choose the Coachman

Why Arizona homeowners choose this Clopay door

If you’re shopping to install a new Clopay garage door in Arizona, the Coachman is one of the doors Farnsworth Garage Door Service installs most across Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix, and the greater Phoenix metro. Clopay is America’s #1 selling garage door brand, and as a local Clopay dealer, we order every door direct from Clopay’s factory and install it with our own Farnsworth technicians — no subcontractors, no rotating crews.

The Coachman Collection is Clopay's carriage-house steel line — the closest a steel door gets to the look of a real wood carriage door without the maintenance headaches. It's our most-installed carriage-house door across Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek. The Coachman gives you the visual richness of overlay boards, decorative hardware, and window inserts on a steel platform that holds up to Arizona sun without warping, splitting, or needing to be refinished every few years.

Being a local Clopay dealer means three things that matter when you’re making the buying decision. First, we order factory-direct, so there’s no middleman markup — you’re paying for the door itself plus our installation, not for a distributor sitting between us and Clopay. Second, our own in-house team installs every door — the technicians who measure your opening at the free in-home quote are the same technicians who come back on install day. Third, if you ever need to file a warranty claim, you call us — we handle the claim directly with Clopay on your behalf for the life of the door. You never have to sit on hold with Clopay corporate.

Serious Insulation

Choose from three insulation options, including Clopay’s advanced Intellicore® polyurethane, with R-values from 6.5 up to 18.4 to help keep your garage more comfortable through every season.

Engineered for Tough Weather

WindCode® reinforcement is available for extra protection in high-wind regions.

Environmental Assurance

Clopay doors are compliant with environmental laws and regulations. Clopay doors do not contain HFCs. All Clopay doors are compliant with:

  • California SB 1013
  • Washington HB 1112 – Hydrofluorocarbon Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • Canadian regulations amending the ozone-depleting substances and halocarbon alternatives regulations
  • New Jersey A-5583/S-3919 – Greenhouse Gas Bill

*Due to LRV requirements, the Coachman CANNOT be painted dark colors. Doing so will void the warranty. Please see Canyon Ridge® Elements for dark color options.

Construction

Built to Last, Designed for Everyday Living

Coachman® garage doors are engineered for both beauty and endurance, starting with a multi-layer build that means business. At the core, you’ll find a strong steel base, followed by high-performance insulation. Choose from advanced Intellicore® polyurethane or polystyrene options for maximum warmth, quiet, and energy savings. Another layer of steel adds strength, and the whole door is topped with a composite overlay that captures the classic carriage house look.

Every Coachman® door features a rust-prevention system with hot-dipped galvanized steel, protective coatings, and a baked-on finish for long-lasting color. Maintenance stays simple with a replaceable vinyl bottom seal that keeps out drafts and water. Safety is built in, too, thanks to the patented Safe-T-Bracket® and heavy-duty hardware. Removable window grilles make cleaning a breeze, and all insulated models use smooth-gliding nylon rollers and tough 14-gauge steel hinges for reliable operation year after year.

Why Coachman in the Phoenix Area

Real carriage-house detail without real wood upkeep

Composite overlay bonded to a steel body gives you the raised-panel look of wood without cracking, warping, or a re-stain schedule.

Three insulation tiers up to R-18.4

Non-insulated, polystyrene, or Clopay's premium Intellicore polyurethane sandwich. We recommend at least polystyrene on every attached garage.

Color Blast custom color program

Standard Clopay palette plus over 6,000 exact-match colors so we can pull your stucco, trim, or door color into the door itself.

Decorative hardware & window inserts

Handles, hinges, strap kits, and a full range of window designs let you dial the exact carriage-house look for your home.

UV-stabilized finish

The factory-baked finish is engineered to hold color under Arizona sun for decades — no yearly repainting.

Common Configurations for Coachman

Most of our Clopay installs across the Phoenix area fall into one of these two configurations. Yours might be different — we measure at the free in-home consultation and quote the exact size for your opening.

Most common

Two-car garage door install

Approx. 16' wide × 7' or 8' tall

The single 16-foot two-car door is the most common configuration on Phoenix-area homes. One door, one opener, cleaner curb appeal than a two-single-door setup. Available in every insulation tier and every color option in this collection.

Townhomes & side entries

One-car garage door install

Approx. 8' or 9' wide × 7' tall

Common on townhomes, casita conversions, and homes with a two-single-door layout instead of one wide door. Same collection, same colors, same warranty — just a narrower configuration.

Replace, Upgrade, or New Construction

We install the Coachman across three scenarios most homeowners in the Phoenix area come to us for.

Replacing a failing door

Your current door is 15-30 years old, panels are dented or faded, springs are on their last cycles, and repair costs are stacking up. We remove the old door and hardware, install the new door and all-new hardware, program the opener, and haul the old door away. Same-day scheduling for the consultation across Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, and the wider Phoenix area.

Upgrading for curb appeal

Your existing door still works but looks dated — plain flush panel on a home that deserves better, or a builder-grade door that came with the house. Upgrading to the Coachman is one of the highest-ROI curb-appeal moves you can make on a Phoenix-area home. We bring physical color samples so you can see the exact finish against your stucco.

New construction & custom builds

Building a new home, a custom, or a major renovation? We work directly with builders and homeowners across the East Valley and Phoenix on spec, coordinate order lead times to match your framing schedule, and install the door once the opening is ready. Ask us about builder pricing at the free consultation.

Warranty

Warranty coverage

Coachman Collection — direct from Clopay

The warranty on your new door is a limited warranty from Clopay Building Products to the original single-family homeowner. Coverage begins on the date your door is delivered. Terms below are transcribed directly from Clopay's official warranty PDFs — we don't invent numbers.

ComponentCoverage period
Paint finish (steel)Lifetime, original single-family homeowner (10 years on other buildings)
Overlay finish5 years
Color Blast custom color5 years
Sections / delamination5 years
Hardware5 years
Torsion springs5 years
Extension springs3 years
Windows & glazing10 years (frames, grilles, inserts, insulated glass, clear acrylic). Single-pane glass and decorative hardware are not covered.

Important terms that apply to every Clopay residential door

  • Non-transferable — coverage stays with the original purchaser and does not carry over to a new homeowner if you sell.
  • Labor is not covered. Clopay's warranty covers parts and materials. Removal, reinstallation, and finishing labor are the homeowner's responsibility — but that's where a local Clopay dealer like Farnsworth matters: we handle the warranty claim with Clopay on your behalf and quote fair labor separately.
  • 45-day inspection window. Any visible or immediate defects must be reported within 45 days of delivery.
  • Proof of purchase is required for any claim.
  • Filing a claim: Clopay warranty support is warranty@clopay.com or 800-225-6729. As your local Clopay installer, Farnsworth files claims on your behalf — you never have to call Clopay corporate.

Installing Clopay Coachman in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale & the Phoenix Area

Why Farnsworth Garage installs Clopay Coachman throughout the East Valley and Phoenix area

Farnsworth Garage Door Service is a local Clopay dealer serving Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Tempe, and the wider Phoenix area, and every install is handled by our in-house install team — not sub-contracted out. We carry Arizona ROC license #351810 and full commercial insurance, and our office answers the phone locally — no call-center runaround, no offshore booking system.

Because we install Clopay doors as our day job, our team knows the quirks of every collection — which Intellicore build fits a west-facing Phoenix-area garage, when Color Blast is worth the upgrade over a stock finish, which decorative hardware clears a low-headroom opening. When you buy a Clopay door from Farnsworth, you get a local installer who has installed the same collection dozens of times across the Phoenix metro.

How the install works

  1. Free in-home consultation & measure

A Farnsworth installer comes to your home with physical Clopay color samples, walks the opening, measures width/height/headroom/side-room, and hands you a written quote — no obligation, no pressure.

  2. Factory order

Once you approve the quote, we place the order factory-direct with Clopay. Most Clopay collections run 2-4 weeks from order to delivery; Canyon Ridge composite, Reserve Wood real wood, and Color Blast custom colors run longer.

  3. Schedule the install

When your door arrives at our Mesa shop, we call to schedule a specific install day. Most installs land within a week of your door arriving — sooner if you're flexible.

  4. Removal & new-door install

On install day our in-house team removes your old door, hauls away the old sections, and sets your new Clopay Coachman — panels, tracks, torsion spring, opener drawback, and safety-sensor alignment. No sub-contractors.

  5. Final tuning & walkthrough

Balance check, tension set, and a walkthrough of how your new door and opener work — remote, keypad, safety reverse, and manual release. We answer questions on the spot.

After the install

Farnsworth doesn't disappear after install day. Every Clopay Coachman we install carries Clopay's factory warranty on paint finish, panel construction, hardware, springs, and glazing (per the collection-specific terms in the Warranty section above). As your local Clopay dealer, we file any warranty claim with Clopay on your behalf — you never have to sit on hold with Clopay corporate. If something needs adjusting outside a warranty claim — a rattle, a track alignment, an opener travel-limit tweak — give us a call and we come back out.

That's the "buy with confidence" side of buying from a local dealer instead of a national chain: one number to call for service, one team that knows your install, one relationship. Most of our Clopay installs turn into repeat customers — opener replacements, second-door installs, and the referrals that follow.

We install Clopay garage doors across all 13 service-area cities in the Phoenix metro: Apache Junction, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Gold Canyon, Guadalupe, Maricopa, Mesa, Phoenix, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, and Tempe.

How Much Does a Clopay Coachman Cost, and What Determines the Price?

Installed pricing on a Clopay Coachman depends on the size of your opening, the insulation tier you pick (non-insulated, polystyrene, or premium Intellicore), the color and finish, and whether you add windows or decorative hardware. Every one of those decisions moves the number, which is why we don't publish a single price on the website — the price for your Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, or Phoenix-area home depends on your door.

Here's what we do instead: we come out, measure your opening, bring physical color and hardware samples so you can see the exact finish against your home, and give you a written itemized quote before you commit. No surprises at install day, no vague ranges over the phone. The consultation is free and there is no obligation to move forward — the six factors below are what we walk with you in person.

Size

Door size

Single-car, double-car, and oversized openings each carry their own material and hardware footprint — the single biggest driver of installed price on any Clopay door.

Material tier

Steel vs. wood-composite vs. real wood

Steel (Classic, Gallery, Bridgeport) is the value tier. Composite-overlay steel (Coachman, Canyon Ridge, Grand Harbor) sits in the middle. Real-wood Reserve doors and aluminum-glass Avante and VertiStack sit at the premium end.

Insulation

Insulation level

Non-insulated, polystyrene, or Clopay's premium Intellicore polyurethane sandwich. Higher tiers cost more up front and pay back all summer in cooler garages and lower AC load.

Windows

Window inserts

Short and long rectangles, arches, sunbursts, and decorative grid patterns — quoted separately from the base door so you only pay for the exact look you want on the door.

Hardware

Decorative hardware

Optional handles, hinges, and strap kits dial up carriage-house curb appeal. A la carte — pick the pieces you want without buying an all-or-nothing package.

Install

Install complexity

A straight swap into existing tracks is a one-day install. Adding new tracks, replacing the torsion system, or fitting an oversized opening adds material and time to the written quote.

HOA & architectural review ready. Clopay's carriage-house lines (Coachman, Canyon Ridge, Grand Harbor, Gallery, Bridgeport) sail through Arizona HOA architectural review committees — Silverleaf, DC Ranch, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Verde River, Val Vista Lakes, Power Ranch, Morrison Ranch, Ocotillo, and beyond. Modern Steel palette variety and Clopay's Color Blast custom paint match (6,000+ exact colors) also cover community-standard color rules on modern-desert HOAs.

Why Choose Farnsworth for Your Clopay Install

Local Mesa-based family business

Brigham and Riley Farnsworth run the company. Brothers. The Farnsworth family name has been part of the East Valley business community for 60+ years — you're hiring people whose reputation lives here.

Local Clopay dealer — ordered factory-direct

We order every Clopay door direct from the factory, install with our own in-house team, and handle any warranty claims with Clopay on your behalf. No middlemen, no rotating subcontractors.

Multi-brand authorized dealer

We install Clopay, Amarr, and Invicta. That means we recommend the door that fits your home — not the one brand we're forced to push. If a different manufacturer is the better fit, we'll tell you.

Written quote — free, no pressure

The in-home consultation is free. We measure, bring physical color samples, and give you a written itemized quote before you commit. Comparable line items for anyone else you're getting quotes from.

Own the whole workflow, end to end

Measurement, factory order, install, and warranty follow-up all live under our roof. The team that measures your opening is the team installing your door and the team you call if anything ever needs adjusting.

We service what we install

A garage door is a 20-year relationship, not a one-and-done sale. Farnsworth stays your service company for the life of the door — tune-ups, spring replacements, opener repairs, warranty claims.

Licensed, insured, background-checked

Arizona ROC-licensed (License #351810), fully insured, and every crew member is background-checked before they set foot on your driveway.

Same-day service across the Phoenix area

Same schedule across all 13 cities we serve — Mesa (our home base), Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, Tempe, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Gold Canyon, Apache Junction, Maricopa, and Guadalupe. Same-day scheduling is our standard for repair calls.

Financing available

Buy the garage door you actually want — not the one that fits this month’s cash on hand.

Farnsworth offers flexible financing on every install and repair job over $500, across all four brands we carry — so you can pick the exact door, insulation tier, hardware, and windows you’d choose if budget wasn’t in the way.

Most homeowners qualify with a soft credit check that doesn’t affect your credit score. Fill out our short financing application — takes about two minutes to submit — and you’ll know your approval and monthly payment options before you finalize your quote. No pressure, no obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How well is the Clopay Coachman insulated for Arizona heat?
The Coachman is offered in three insulation tiers — non-insulated 2-layer, polystyrene-insulated 3-layer, and Clopay's premium Intellicore polyurethane sandwich 3-layer. For any attached garage in the Arizona heat, we recommend at minimum the polystyrene tier. If your garage shares a wall or ceiling with living space, the Intellicore build gives you the highest R-value (up to R-18.4) and the quietest operation.
What colors are available for the Clopay Coachman?
The Coachman is available across Clopay's full standard color palette (typically 11+ premium factory finishes including White, Almond, Sandtone, Bronze, Desert Tan, and Chocolate Brown) plus Clopay's Color Blast custom program — over 6,000 exact-match colors from any manufacturer or brand code. We bring physical color chips to your quote so you can see them against your home's stucco and tile in Arizona light.
Can I add windows or decorative hardware to the Coachman?
Yes — the Coachman accepts Clopay's full range of window insert designs (short and long rectangles, arches, sunburst, plain, decorative grids) plus decorative hardware kits (handles, hinges, strap kits). Windows and hardware are quoted separately from the base door so you can dial the exact look you want. Bring photos of your home to the quote and we'll walk through options.
What warranty comes with the Coachman?
Every Clopay Coachman carries Clopay's limited residential warranty covering paint finish, panel construction (sections and delamination), hardware, and springs — plus 10 years on windows and glazing. Term length varies by component and by whether the door is on a single-family home vs. other building type. Full per-collection warranty terms, transcribed directly from Clopay's official PDFs, are in the Warranty section below. As your authorized installer, Farnsworth files any warranty claim with Clopay on your behalf — you never have to call Clopay corporate.
How long does it take to install a Coachman after I order?
Installing a Coachman is typically a one-day install for our team once the door arrives at our Mesa shop from Clopay's factory. Factory lead time varies — standard configurations are usually 2-4 weeks; Color Blast custom colors, Canyon Ridge overlays, and Reserve Wood real-wood doors run longer. We'll give you a specific timeline at your quote based on the exact spec you pick. Once the door arrives, we call to schedule install — and the same Farnsworth technicians who measured your opening at the quote are the ones who do the install.
How long does the Clopay Coachman last in Arizona sun and heat?
A properly installed Clopay Coachman routinely lasts 25-30+ years in Arizona's desert climate. Clopay's baked-on factory finishes are UV-stabilized specifically to hold up against Arizona sun, and the steel construction shrugs off the extreme temperature swings between our summers and winters. The parts that wear out first are typically springs (10,000-cycle standard, upgradable to 25,000 or 50,000) and weather seals (annual visual check, replace every 5-8 years) — not the door itself.
Where can I buy a Clopay Coachman garage door in Arizona?
Farnsworth Garage Door Service is your local Clopay dealer for the Coachman — serving Mesa (our home base), Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Gold Canyon, Apache Junction, Maricopa, and Guadalupe. We order every Coachman direct from Clopay's factory. Call or text (602) 935-9766 for a free in-home quote.
Who installs the Clopay Coachman near me in the Phoenix metro?
Farnsworth installs the Coachman throughout the Phoenix metro, with the most installs in Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler. Our own in-house team handles every install — no subcontractors, no rotating crews. Same team that measures your opening at the free consultation is the team on install day.
How much does a Clopay Coachman cost installed in Mesa or Phoenix?
Installed pricing on the Coachman depends on the size of your opening, the color you pick, the insulation tier, and whether you add windows or decorative hardware. Rather than a vague range, we bring physical color samples to your home, measure your opening, and give you a written quote before you commit — no surprises at install. Free in-home consultation, no obligation.
Is Farnsworth a Clopay dealer?
Yes. We're a local Clopay dealer, which means we order the Coachman factory-direct, install with our in-house Farnsworth team, and handle any warranty claims with Clopay on your behalf for the life of the door. You never have to call Clopay corporate.
Do you install the Clopay Coachman in Scottsdale, Gilbert, and Chandler?
Yes — Scottsdale, Gilbert, and Chandler are three of our most-active Clopay install cities. We also cover Mesa, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Gold Canyon, Apache Junction, Maricopa, and Guadalupe. Every install is handled by our own team.
How much does a Clopay Coachman garage door cost in Chandler?
We build every Clopay Coachman quote around your specific opening in Chandler — size (single vs. double), material tier, insulation level, window inserts, decorative hardware, and whether we're just swapping panels or replacing tracks. Rather than a range that won't match your home, we bring physical color samples out, measure everything, and hand you an itemized written quote — free, no obligation. Call (602) 935-9766 to get scheduled.
How long does Clopay Coachman installation take in Chandler?
Clopay orders factory-direct, and most standard Clopay configurations run 2-4 weeks from order to delivery at our Mesa shop. Once your Coachman arrives, we schedule a specific install day — typically within the week if you're flexible. The install itself is normally a one-day job for our team once the door is on site. We give you a specific factory lead time at the point of order based on the exact spec you pick.
Do you offer financing on Clopay Coachman garage doors?
Yes — Farnsworth can walk you through financing options for a new Clopay Coachman at your free in-home consultation. We work with common home-improvement financing programs so you can spread the install cost over monthly payments instead of paying all up front. Ask us during the quote and we'll walk you through the current options, terms, and what pre-qualifies you — no hard credit pull required for the initial conversation.
Will my homeowners insurance cover a new Clopay Coachman?
Sometimes — if your Clopay Coachman is being replaced because of a covered event (car-into-door impact, monsoon wind damage, hail damage, break-in), your homeowners insurance may cover full or partial replacement. A spring failure or normal wear-and-tear is usually NOT covered. If you think an insurance claim might apply, mention it at your free consultation and we can help you document the damage with photos and a written scope-of-work quote that most insurance adjusters will accept. We are not licensed insurance advisors, so run any specific coverage questions past your carrier directly.
How does the Clopay Coachman hold up in Arizona heat?
The Coachman is offered in three insulation tiers, up through Clopay's premium Intellicore polyurethane sandwich (R-18.4). For any attached garage in Chandler we always recommend at least polystyrene; if the garage shares a wall with living space, Intellicore is the right pick for thermal and sound performance. The composite overlay is UV-stabilized so the finish holds color under Arizona sun.
Where can I buy the Clopay Coachman in the Phoenix area?
Farnsworth Garage Door Service is your local Clopay dealer for the Coachman across the Phoenix area. We install it throughout Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Gold Canyon, Apache Junction, Maricopa, and Guadalupe — same schedule in every city. Call or text (602) 935-9766 or book a free in-home consultation online.
Should I replace my old garage door or repair it?
Repair usually makes sense if the door itself is structurally solid (panels not dented, no rust perforation, tracks straight) and the failing part is a spring, opener, cable, or roller. Replacement makes sense if the door is 15-25+ years old, multiple panels are damaged, insulation is failing, or you're spending real money on repairs every year. We're happy to give you an honest read at the free consultation — if repair is the right call, we'll say so and quote the repair instead of pushing a new door.
Is the Clopay Coachman a good choice for new construction?
Yes — the Coachman works well on new-construction projects across the East Valley and Phoenix. We coordinate order lead times to your framing schedule, do a rough-opening walkthrough before drywall so the opening measures correctly, and install once the door opening is ready.
